Preparing functional works

Today I wanted to give a quick rundown on the process I use to upcycle wine bottles….

STEP 1 : Scrub & Wash

During this process I soak the bottles which makes it extremely easy to remove the adhesive, which can be done with a butter knife or blade. Once that’s removed I scrub away.

PART 2 : DryAllowing your bottles to dry is absolutely necessary! I usually place the bottles upside down for a few minutes before turning them up. Bottles are typically dry in about 15-20minutes.

Part 3 : Applying your surface

Bottles are versatile and can accommodate many mediums.  I am a visual artist and since I hand paint my bottles, I use gesso as a base.

Hope this helps! Happy painting!
